I made a little one with the modules available from sources sited above. I placed it in a VERY dusty shed for about 3 days and noticed a tiny pattern of settled dust around the device's projection end.
Very interesting (but I think useless for most health concerns) effect on what would be airborne particulate matter. {NOTE: you need some serious dust to get something visible in a short period of time from the needle ends}
IF there was some motor or filter attached to it the "pattern" would not be discernible.
I wish there was a way that I could get at it's circuitry but it's potted.
