Steve , I sincerely apologise if you feel I have been in anyway attacking you personally, that was not my intention at all.

Nah, i never take forums too seriously, or most things in life for that matter. I dont feel that you are attacking me, just that you arent understanding what ive been trying to explain, hence, i give up :P.

Perhaps its best if we leave it at that for now, and when I have the results I will post them.

Yes, do that! If all goes well, you will learn something, though i will not, because ive already done exactly these tests. Believe me, i understand the need for proof, especially if you have some doubts with completely understanding every detail. I use real world tests all the time to prove myself right or wrong.

Well, I have , after mucho building and testing, definitively and categorically proven mysealf WRONG smile cheesey.

It is without doubt better to start and end the pulse train with both the high and low side drivers of the GDT at the same level. That is , most convieniently, by using the enable pin smile.

I will save myself the embarrasment of describing the waveforms in too much detail when not doing the above , suffice to say, as most of you probably already know, its ugly.

I have hence modified my circuit , so as to still provide a presettable maximum duration boot pulse, but to have both GDT drivers begin , and end the burst ontime in the same state ( by using the enable pins ).

Nothing new to most of you smile , but I now not just believe , but know it to be true!

Anyway , I will update this post with my new schematic and layout when I've finnished them.

Thanks again everyone!
