Just got a shipment of MO parts from a colleague, we got 24 MO at 2$ a piece, some where brand new but we salvaged it all anyway, he didnt want his share after a few experiments so now I have most of it.
I am open for suggestions, but limited by 230V / 10A or if I remove my oven I can get 230V / 16A
In the picture you can see 21 MOTs (12 are the same) and there is also 21 MOCs and about 12 diodes left, some where blown.
OMG. I don't even want to know where did he get them. (but really, I do ) I can't even imagine what would be possible with that and a 400V 30A 3ph outlet
With 10A you cannot do much, I would suggest the standard "2 MOT 4 cap" resonant circuit. Do you have access to a three phase outlet?
they are from a "recycling plant", its really just a container site for recycling, not the facility.
I have a 3phased 400v / 16A
also I am soon getting a 1,7kW frequency inverter to experiment with 3 or 6 mots connected in triangle, and output rectified.

WOW!! Thats a lot of MOTs! Where's Waldo? Sorry, I just had to say it..

OH......... MY. that is one heck of a mot collection you got there. Cant wait to see some of the stuff you make with them. 3 phase 400v jacoulbs ladder maybe?

I disassembled yesterday my tenth MO. Here at my summer cottage is a really good junkyard. I have taken 4 MOs and I may take as many as I want for 0$.
My aim is to make a star-star-coupled three-phase 12kV MOT stack for a DC resonant charging TC. I probably get soon a star-triangle-configuration 3~ pole pig which has 30 degree of phase shift. With it and the MOT stack I won't need any smoothing cap. 18 MOTs will be a great hilarity wired together and fed from 3x32A supply (230V region).
Edit: To stay in the topic: can't wait to test 4 MOT stack with the resonant cap...

I have considered using two separate MOT stacks to drive a full wave voltage doubler so I could reduce the size of my smoothing capacitor but so far I haven't. Right now I am using a baby (5KVA) pole pig to drive a halve wave voltage doubler. With a really big soothing capacitor it would make a great photo flash power supply.
18 MOTs should give you plenty of power to work with !

It looks like you have a pretty good start there! If you have several that have duplicates: THAT'S what you want to work with. Having several of the same component allows a lot of enjoyable experimentation. Use the less quality singulars as ballasts, etc. Try to remember what cap was sold with which MOT. KEEP collecting! There will come a time when you have to get back to work/school - whatever and won't have the opportunity. You'll be glad you did put a good collection together when you're experiments are only limited by your imagination and not the hardware!

How much do you guys dare to depress me. Here I get anything from none to two microwaves a year
Just post a picture of your high current wall plugs to make me jealous, wish I had 3phased 63A but thats just a mere dream living in a apartment in the inner city :)
