Well like they say if it isn't broken don't fix it. With that said id like to just say that I am still using secondary base feedback with no synced interrupter, no OC detection and on board interrupter. I'll save all that for my big coil when I get around to it. For a small 12 inch coil its all that's needed. hehe. I must say the inside of your box looks pretty impressive though. Kinda sad you feel defeated after all that work going into it. At least you learned something right. Maybe youre a pro at toslinks now. If it comes up in a job interview you'll know it wasn't a waste.

Something I was thinking about. You are really not doing much with the toslinks anyway the reason is everything is in the same box and will get the same amount of interference anyway. If you were to move the gate drive and logic 15 feet away then connect with optical links then that might have a purpose.

Mh, today i found some new energy to get the bugs out of the new modulator and it seems that the electronics of my coil isnt bugged at all. cause i selled some prototype boards of the modulator which was very naive i think cause they were not tested completely, i got some replies today that made me curious.. the description of the fault fitted exactly with mine and so i started to look at the shematic of the modulator again.

after some hours of debugging and building some circuits on breadboard im somewhat confident that i found some bugs. but i dont know if there are more of them. i think so....

the battle is not lost! i did some tests after the debugging and got good results. not as good as i expected before i found all the bugs that made me sad and angry but its a step forward and now i have the hope to get the coil working at last with the toslink electronics.

maybe there are more bugs and maybe im a bit too excited, but theres always hope at the end and it would be dumb to throw away the soldering iron and give up.....

Huzzah! I've often found that leaving a project sit for awhile can help me figure out what I did wrong, (like reversing the feedback on a Single Transistor FB Driver. DOH!) so its good to see that you at least got results from the coil. All I can say at this point is viel Glück!

Go Reaching! There is not much static caused by the break out, and the sound quality is incredible! That is freaking beautiful. amazed

Thats a great job, congrats on finally getting it working!

Also I'm kinda wondering what exactly its arcing to... could be wiring or a pipe behind the drywall.... hope it didn't fry anything.

hrhr, its not a drywall, even if it looks like one, cause i filled the gaps between the conrete plates with gypsum and because i went out of paint, the ceiling looks a bit, mhh, ... :) . its a concrete ceiling with steelmesh inside where it arcs in. my "lab" is completely shielded, cause i asked the workers for connecting some thick ground wires to the outer meshes in every wall. all steelmeshes are grounded :P perfect faraday cage...
