Thank you for your interesting reply, Dr Conner.
I suppose if g1 was shorted to k, so that the screen now became the control grid, as you suggest, then gm and other operating parameters would have to be determined empirically to take account of this unanticipated configuration.

Thanks for explanation it Dr. Conner. For me its hard in English.
My tube worked perfectly. Later i removed variac and just plugged it to mains after few seconds of warm up. This tube toke so much beating in my experimenting and wasn't orange and red only one time. I'm still surprised what tubes can take without blowing, amazed....
