Well i have started a new coil, 6 inch in diameter and 30 inches long. I will be using rogers 2 mot and doubler setup, i would use 4 mots but i only have 100amps service :P.
My 6 inch coil being wound.
The mmc, made of 32 CDE .68uf 1600vdc caps. Will be tapped for about 40nf to 50 nf.
The twin mot circuit with doubler for power supply.
Me after all that work on the coil, after a hot day :P

lol how much power do you want to be consuming i plann on making a 1kw coil in the next months as i found a really neat 1000watt choke under my house last year, so i guess i could have 4 mots in parralel which would mean 8 kv at an alright current

What kind of MOTs do you have that four of them would draw over 100A?
Lol i am just saying, it might draw up to like 60 amps when running full bps and i dont have the wiring to do that and if i had to much stuff running in the house, i would trip the breaker. I am not willing to take that chance, and get everyone PO'ed.

<-----My MOT 6-pack drew <100 amps unballasted into a dead short, drawing an arc. More like 30-40A max with the coil running at 700bps with a .15uF cap. There's no way you'll trip a 100A main breaker with 2 mots.

Really? I have tripped a 15 amps breaker into a short with one mot so i figured that. Thanks for letting me know though. But i want to use this supply so i dont have to have to have a really powerful cap. It would take like 60nf or something, at 8kv ac, mine will have about half the punishment since it is dc. And my coil will need to be bigger to harvest the full power of the mot's...i think...

Just want to say here that the european 230/240V MOTs will draw around 20A when shorted! This means that a 6-pack would draw 120A, which translates to 240A from 120V for the same VA! I know 60Hz MOTs draw a bit less but I think not much less.
I think people are often "measuring" their current by their breaker rating, but that's bad because the breaker will give twice the amps for half a minute maybe.

Well i am planning on using 240 volts for the mot's to cut down on current and i can get more wattage from 240 volts because i have 30 amps max on 120 volts as well as 240. I am using dc, straight from the doubler.
