I think the ones we have are the 3000F types. I wish I had a use for them.

Got these from Bust_A_Cap, and have to say they work great:
T DSC03277lowm 012b9d1

BTW I was thinking the same thing as Myke:
T DSC03281lowm D6f2693
Luckily I have 3 I can series up for 8.1V!

EDIT: oh and these things are a b*tch and a half to charge in any reasonable amount of time! What I ended up doing was charging it through a 2.7 ohm 20W resistor, submerged in a cup of cold water. Power source was a 12V car-jumper battery pack, monitored by a multimeter

Sometimes, caps like this are used for car stereos as stiffening caps, or to provide a boost of power for the bass notes..

Ive seen some large super capacitors for stereo system use. Check ebay. They are overflowing with them, (in a bad way). Just search for , capacitor. Its actually quite annoying when trying to find a "normal" capacitor.

I'd imagine they would be good in car stereos. A lot of times it is said that supercaps dont have a high enough pulse rating, but the types this this thread is dealing with (i.e. very large ones) are surprisingly capable of supplying a couple thousand amps.

I'm not sure whether or not the ones on Ebay are supercapacitors or just regular 'lytics. Hard to tell because most dont have anything in the picture to judge how large they are physically.
