Finn, it actually went from Europe to the US, where its planned to remain for the time being. Conundrum was nice enough to send a starter box to Chris Russell in the US. There has been talk about starting a European box, but I haven't heard anything beyond idle chat.

I may be able to help with that, but at some point I'll post a list of stuff that may go into the box (I have a surplus of LED's and suchlike) and someone can IM back with what they might need.
EDIT:- most of the "mystery components" are germanium transistors. I tried to test them prior to sending so they should work... ideal for small oscillators and solar projects.
there's a circuit on the net that uses a photoflash transformer in reverse and one germanium to output 5V or so from 0.7V input.

That's excellent, I'm glad to see it making the rounds. ... is next up, but he won't be home until Thanksgiving, so the next stop may be a little longer than we'd like. However, I did have at least a couple of people who wanted to be after him, so I think it's worth the wait.

I worked out a deal with mike that I am going to pick up some goodies when I go home this weekend (going rocket launching!) and I can swap them out at school--so the box is on the way to me at the moment (or at least on the way to the post office on the way to me )
