This is my first DRSSTC, I have made 2 previous SSTC's based on steve wards mini sstc driver and got around 8 inch arcs but I am in need of some real madness now :) Awhile back I acquired some 40n60's via fairchild when they still sampled them, I have 5 at the moment but I think either 2 or 3 more for a total of 8. I am making a Fullbridge drsstc and will be using CDE 942CP15K-F capacitors for the MMC. I have already purchased most of the materials and at the moment I am etching the PCB (sitting in my sink soaking to get the paper actually :)

The driver itself is steve wards, not sure exactly what it is called but it is very cool. I will leave more info about it up to him if he wants to say anything. Either way thanks.
I will be updating this thread when I have etched the pcb and will give pictures, as well as soldering stage. The only components left to order are some IC's and capacitors/resistors.

Finally here are some pictures =]

6x 400v 3300uF UPE Computer Grade Lytics (2 are for the bridge, other 4 are for other stuff unknown atm)
Th

40x 2kv 1.5mfd CDE 942CP15K-F Capacitors for the MMC ( will not use them all of course:)
Th

2000 or so resistors of assorted values along with some seperate resistors for the IGBT gates.
Th

A few components I sampled from TI, UCC's and 555's mainly
Th

38 sheets of double sided copper clad 8x12inches. Wont run out of this anytime soon :D
And also 5000ft roll of 28awg wire for the secondary
Th

5x HGT140N60A4D Aren't they beautiful? :)
Th

Everything all together looking awesome.

Update: Soldered some components on the board as well as but a silkscreen on it. Going well, waiting for some smd resistors/caps and other components to come. Should be here on monday and my new soldering iron tomorrow :D

I also finished the bridge design,I am using 3300uF 400v filter caps, this is all stolen directly from steve ward so all credit to him. hes awesome.
Anyways here are some pics of the bridge and started board. Sorry for blurry pics. :(

The completed bridge, just in need of the resistors/diodes
Th

Close up on the bridge connections.
Th

Work started on PCB, soldered in a few components but waiting on the rest.

Looking awesome, but you might wanna downsize the pics real fast before a moderator bites you. Max width of embedded images is 400 pixels

It is hard to tell with your pictures, but when you don't have plate through holes (ie, homebrew boards), you need to make sure that you solder pins to both sides of the board. It is hard to tell from your pictures, but those black caps especially look like they are supposed to be connected to the big ground plane but are not soldered to it. Soldering to both sides also makes a much stronger joint because you are no longer relying on the glue holding the copper down to support your part, but rather you have the fiberglass sandwiched between two (hopefully securely soldered) pieces of copper sheet.

Yeah i used wire vias where necessary, but the ground plane is mostly conductive on both sides now. All other components I can solder on both sides so its fine.
