wait, you've known that it is functioning in the same reaction as a potato battery? and kept it from the thread? THAT would have ended this fiasco of a thread "

Third post, and no, it didn't.

you asked why to not use a potato battery, you never said the same chemistry as a potato battery was going on in the nuclear cell... I never knew that, and that is one of the reasons I needed to do more experimentation, the rest of this thread is the result of nothing I intended...
since I can't experiment until summer, people are really confused about what is going on (and I can't explain) and this thread is becoming very wrong in general, far from intended by me - I am asking the moderators to lock it, until at least someone can come along with actual experimentation...

here is the post that I refer to when you state that they do use the same chemistry:

OK. Let's have another look at this thread.
It seems that "part of the point of this is the extremely long life."
Well, as far as I can see, it won't have a long life in any meaningful way. The half life of the uranium (or whatever) isn't the issue. This thread is in chemistry because it's a chemical reaction.
Once the zinc is used up, the reaction stops and there's no more electricity. Exactly the same as with an ordinary battery.

I think ths thread MIGHT go somewhere if a sort of totorial is made and the results posted. a vague discription is not helping anybody.

as i have said, until summer comes I likely won't work on the battery... but when I do, I'll document just about everything done, a build description, and attempt to maximize efficiency and results... which I will try to have examined by my science teachers, and possibly a local professor who has shown some interest.

sounds good. It would be nice if you could get it to get around 1-2v dc and then step it up to around 110 and run a telivision set off nuclear power.of coarse you would need to convert it to AC...but...

As Bored Chemist has pointed out several times this thread is not very helpful so I am closing it.

When someone has any new devleopments to report on or clear questions to ask they can open a new thread so people will not be confused by the contents of this thread.
