Copper refrigeration tubing comes in already formed coils, so all you have to do is put the coil on the support. It's also VERY easy to bend, compared to solid pipe. You just have to be a little careful not to kink the tubing. The mason jar cap you did probably used aluminum foil right? Thats why there was ozone. On mine, I filled the jar up 9/10 of the way with salt water and the rest with mineral oil. I put that inside a tupperware container also filled with salt water the same level as inside the jar. Same with the oil on the outside. The oil layer is about 3/4 inch thick, and my cap doesn't produce a single milligram of ozone.

One other question. Arcstarter recomended building some small 100-coil coils for chokes. But wouldn't these produce alot of resistence and inductence? that would throw off the frequence?
Well the resistance is not significant at thousands of volts and a few milliamps. The inductance is what the chokes are all about. It will just filter out anything dangerous to the transformer. Didn't make this up, it was an actual 'professional' not me so i have no choice but to believe it works .

Chokes are so 10 years ago. Everyone uses Terry filters now. If the full Terry filter is too expensive, I think the two resistors alone would probably be better than chokes.

Yay! This thread has finally zeroed in on a couple of questions instead of a thousand!!

Don't forget the saftey gap too. It always seemed to me like the resistors would limit the available power from the NST. Is that true?
The resistance is far too low to make a real dent. It's just there as a Q spoiler.

For the sake of simplicity (especially for you first coil) i would just go with rf chokes and a safety gap.
As the good Dr. Conner indicated above: Chokes are old-school and have been pretty much disgraced by real science conducted by various folks like Terry Fritz. Their continued use is a carryover from the bygone days of TCBOR where issues associated with RF and wimpy NST secondaries were first characterized, but not well understood.
If you want to leave something out of your Terry Filter, leave out the MOVs. Keep the cap(s), resistors, and safety gap. Other caps can be substituted. I'd probably go with a single doorknob just because it's easier.

Here's a link to a digital capacitance meter that would probably help you out.
or a LCR meter that is about just as cheap, i got one and its fine for the time being considering im still learning and short of cash for all the wonderful stuff :)

hmmm....... I'll have to dwell on the RF filter/ Terry filter thing. That Terry filter looks a little complex.....
And I will Throw in ANOUTHER question, then I think I will have the info to finaly start building this thing....
I used Tesla map. and it is saying that if I use a larger than resonate capacitor, at 7.4 nF, then my primary coil will be 11-12 turns. (pluged in NST at 15 kv, 30 MA) Is this right? it strikes me as rather high. IF it is, will copper refrigeration tubing be long enough?
What about angle of my primary coil? it seems to me that 0 degrees is easiest to build, but should I do a differnt angle?

As I suggested above, one needn't use a zillion little tiny caps like Terry did. You can just use a single ceramic doorknob of similar value, gotten for cheap off eBay. On top of that, if you leave out the MOVs, you're down to something pretty simple.

Lots of people like to use that copper tubing, and it sure looks cool. However, it's a real bugger to deal with. For NST powers, I'd just use coax cable. RG-213 ought to perform very well, and it's nice and flexible and easy to work with. You would connect to the shield and just leave the center conductor alone.
