Looks like a weavel of some sort to me. Very common, come in an astonishing variety of colors and shapes. They're fairly tough too, would explain the fact that you went all ninja on him and he kept coming.
Its particularly unpleasant when you find one of those little buggers in a box of freshly opened breakfast cereal.
