update-the archive loads fast amazed

Now this really has me confused. Every computer in my house has the slow loading problem (one won't even loaf 4hv.org), but they all work just fine with the archive mistrust

the forum has been very slow-loading for me. Id say a good 5-10 second pause on average. Ping times are low, other websites load fast. Ehh, whatever.

yay, it is fast again :)
Maye it has something to do with the fact that it is 1:30am here, hopefully it will still go good tomorrow (or later today)...

edit: now it is 12am and it is still fast smile The weirdest thing is that it is still slow on my laptop, but fast on my desktop. I am planning to reinstall windows on my laptop soon (just because), so I will be able to see if it is a software problem.

I've also experienced the "delay" problem - sometimes the site locks up for ~5-10sec and then it loads, sometimes it loads, then locks up (when scrolling down).
However, the delay seem to dissapear when I jump between forums/threads quickly...

mine has the same thing only it lasts about a 60 -300 secs.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago with some sites being really slow, and it wasn't improving.

In the end I reflashed my router with the latest firmware, re-set it to factory default and then programmed all the settings in again. Also moved it a foot away from my WAP, and now everything is nice and fast again on all systems.

I wouldn't have thought it would make any difference, but it seems to have done...

I had a problem a few days ago with some lag. I would click on a link and it would take 5-10 seconds before the page started loading. Turned out one of Adelphia's nameservers was down. Once I fixed that, everything was loading fine again. It's possible your ISP might be having some problems with their nameservers, or maybe they're just not caching the result, causing them to query 4hv over and over, which could also lead to some delay.

I'm not sure what's going on, but there seems to be more than one problem at play here. Let me see what advice I can offer.

...'s problem seems similar to mine; if for some reason you're not resolving 4hv.org quickly, you'd see that same kind of delay, while pings, tracerts and whatnot look excellent. The quick and dirty fix for that is as follows:

Linux users, edit /etc/hosts, windows users, edit c:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts, and add the line:

69.57.177.170 4hv.org

That should clear things up. It's not an ideal solution, but seeing as how the site works just fine for me and a lot of other people, and there's no apparent cause, I think that's the best I can do for now.

The next problem, where it locks up AFTER loading, seems browser related, and seems to mostly affect IE users. However, it's fine on both computers at my house, and for lots of other people. I've got a theory, though. Let me try something and get back to this thread.

EDIT: Yep, just as I thought. Google Web Accelerator adds a significant amount of delay on my system, freezing the page for 3-4 seconds after it's loaded. Anyone using that, or some other "accelerator" technology?

hmm, it has been working well (page loads in like 1s) on my desktop most of the time, but on my laptop it is still super slow. I have google web accelerator disabled on both.

One thing I noticed is that there is a website at http://69.57.177.170.org. Now I don't know much about how the internet works, but I though that your ip adress was your and your only...

I sm reinstalling windows on my laptop, so I will be able to try things on a fresh install (the hosts trick didn't help)

Link2 will take you to the subdomain '177' of 'http://170.org' - try it:
Link2

170.org just happens to be owned by one of those cybersquatting entities that buys pointless domain names on the chance that somebody wants one, then resells them.

Link2 will yield the same thing. It's got nothing to do with Chris's IP.
