I think you are little right and wrong here. Yes his heat sinks are just chopped big heat sink or made from simple aluminum U profile for construction (more likely).

At least at me, fan cost 5 Eur and good heat sink to mount 4 IGBT-s will coste more than 100 Eur. So by using small cheap heat sinks and fan he can save alot of money, and this is where he is going too i think

100Eu heat sink? Maybe made of pure silver tongue But fans are cheap - you are right in this

I just meant at a low bps he should be able to ditch the fan and keep the same heat sinks. My first solid state coil which was around 2kw ran cold and ran at the same bps as his does. The sinks I use on my DRSSTC are 20 watt heat sinks and it runs at a near 300bps. They don't get warm.

Our electronic supplies are terrible and almost none, prices are at sky and as desert more than half of transistors, mosfets, resistors... is fake angry

Maybe its simply insurance, and maybe simply he has some mistake why they overheat
