I have started winding the tesla coil secondary coil. I am near end but i have accidentaly broken the wire so i have 2 parts, one wounded and one unwounded.. How i can connect these two parts so i can finish secondary? Is it recommendable to fix that or is better to leave the wire as-is?

Sorry on bad english..

I assume you are still winding the coil, so remove a little insulation from the two tips of broken wire, overlay the two ends and solder togeather, then continue to wind coil.

Are you going to coat the secondary, if so….the wire you fixed will be coated?

Yes, i am still winding the coil. I will solder the wires, tonight, i need to catch time first. I had in mind to varnish that soldered part of wire.. but.. with what chemical? I still need to consider all options.. coating or no coating on secondary.. SGTC or SSTC and so on.. Thanks anyway..

I'm not 1000% positive how well it would work, but try a blob of either epoxy or RTV silicone. Or if you have some, a large drop of oil-based polyurethane varnish. When it's dry, it's really hard and seems to insulate well. You'd just have to keep it concentrated to that one spot without dripping away.

If only you could get them to run their hands up and down it right after it was run. tongue
ZAP!

PS. People do that because you are one of the few people who make simple coils works of art.

Fixed... the overlay is about 4 mm long and without sharp pieces and spikes.. Secondary is on PVC pipe, diameter 10 cm and width 40-41 cm, with wire 0.315 mm (awg 28). That makes something around 1200 turns..
