I have a myspace only as a result of trying to help out a friend customize her page.
I get my social internet fix by chatting via IRC. You can join in at irc.shadowworld.net and join #hvcomm. It may look void of human activity some times but hang in there. It won't take much to get it to a roaring blaze of social networking again.
Xchat seems to be a preferred client by most people and some like MIrc.
If you care to give a try just keep in mind that politeness and tact go a long way.

I have one. It is used very rarely. I can't be assed to customize it and whatnot. It's mostly just a way to keep in touch with my family and friends -- I don't really use it for much else.
You can find me in the 4hv.org chat room much more easily. I always appear to be in the room because my IRC client runs on a box that's always on. Anyone who would like to stop by and chat in real time is welcome!

I don't have a Myspace. Well, I *had* one for a short time once, realized I never used it for anything, and then deleted it.
