If your mots are "high quality" aka old, you can probably leave core connected to secondary. Of course that loads pri-core-insulations quite heavily, but it won't arc over. My quad-pack worked fine without any disconnected cores.
quicksilver, it won't work... You need AC for transformer, and even if the camera cap load circuit gives some kind of square wave etc., it won't have enough power to give results.

no actually these are new mots i optained very cheap of ebay and i found out they are wound with aluminum wire and trust me soldering the 2 mots together was a no fun job whatsoever but anyway the 2nd pair of mots are disconnected from the secondary so evetything should work. also im not really building this bank to draw arcs of it but to power a large tesla coil that i am working on and i dont think it will draw any more than 50A at tops.
