 		Just to point out, there seems to be an arc on the non-chicken stick terminal, about 3 in down from the top. Don't know if that is bad or not.

Hi, I've done some research into this, based on the Resonant MOT arcs. This is the conclusion: As long as the resonant rise on the high side is enough to actually saturate your transformer, this "saturation current" is transferred to the primary winding, "opposing" the current from wall, so the current flowing through the primary decreases. So yes, resonant cap on the high side can be used as a PFC.
Actually, the current with my new resonant MOT supply is very low (~2A) with shorted output and goes up to 10A as the arc gets bigger and needs more power.
