i think that you can replace it by anything fast , like BY329... (i use that beacuse i tested it and nothing works better, even in coilgun)

One thing I don't like with the MiniTesla II: it has to be manually tuned with L4 and C4. That's why I prefer this schematic.

Mathias, I know it'd be awfully lot of work, but if you ever have time, you could translate even some parts of the Skori MiniTesla I and II pages. But only if you have the time and the motivation.

Oh and by the way, I just saw a crazy 12V coil on YouTube: Link2

Seeing the schematics with more details, I think its a Self Ressoant with Base Feedback (Current Xfmr), without drivers or anything, only some regulators. I am correct?

Yes. The gates are driven straight from the current transformer. In the MiniTesla II schematic I think the L4 and C4 are just helping the gate drive.

I think it can be done with some drivers reducing the total circuit, someday when I got my scope, I will try to do something like that :D

ok, i dunno if i am not cheating, but i've done TC at 12 V with only 1 transistor - the 2n3055 flyback, hv transformer from CRT, and minitesla .... from MANDK i got resonant frequency nearly 2MHz without toroid, but i have toroid and dunno its capatitancy, so i dunno exactly freq. resonant.

i'll post photos as soon as i get charge batteries :) some photos (of teslacoil, i am not using that circuit on photos anymore) are on my page : http://dingo27.ic.cz/miniSGTC.html

it is working with spark gap (last i tried 2mm), and 3.13nf capacitor (mmc 6kv)

Well yes, a SGTC at 12V has kinda no limits. You could take a 12V->230V inverter and a NST, for example, and drive a SGTC with them...

But 12V on primary in a SSTC is completely different business. The voltage is (usually) too low to get decent sparks. Skori has come over this problem by using MOSFETs with a low (<100mOhm) Rds(on) to minimize heating. This allows you to use a primary with only 1 turn like Skori did (or actually a 1+1t primary). A secondary with 1000-2000 turns is still required to get long sparks, though.

If you don't want to wind a secondary with thousands of turns, you could step the voltage up with a boost converter and charge a capacitor (300V@few 100µF for example). Then operate the SSTC in pulses. That way you should get better sparks. Link2
