 		Thanks for all of your help, I just didnt want to have things crap the bucket on me if I did something wrong. My coil is pretty much done, im just waiting to build my control box with the variac and what not.

Im gonna try and use java TC now.

Download the standard version because it has been much better with my experience with it.
Hope it helps!

I have used this program and find it faulty, the only calculator I would recommend is Java TC A classictesla.com

Ok, but give yourself about twice that many turns to work with. Nothing is more annoying than having to tap out past your last turn wink Whoops!

 		haha, well i hope il have enough! My coil is pretty much built, I have about 11 turns for the primary. Here is a picture of it, I cant wait to get it running!

 		Tonic, I have read that closed strike ring forms some kind of current loop, but I don't know how it matters.

 		Because when you have a shorted loop above the primary, you basically have a short across the primary. Treat it as a tertiary winding with an impedance that is a short. When you reflect it back to the primary side, its still a short and like placing a short directly across the transformer. Of course, its not a perfect short since the coupling is quite low) but it can still rob precious energy.
