That's weird robert, I never knew you could be shocked by such low voltage. I didn't think 12 volts was enough to overcome the resistance of the skin?

when you apply voltage to an inductor and then cut power it will induce a large voltage into the coil, like in an ignition coil cheesey

When I was 10-11 years old, I were on vacation with my parent. Behind the house we lived in there used to be an old shed with a saw for wood.
That shed had been taken down, but the 3phase 400V supply for the saw was just ringed up and hang from a tree behind the house.

Before we left for the vacation our neighbor had just bought a electrical lawnmower which I was very impressed of, so I wanted to make one myself.

So I found a watering can and pulled the cable down from the tree, the 5 conductors were spread out so i wanted to twist them to put them down through the tube of the watering can. Resulting in a 3phased 400v shortcircuit in my left hand to ground.

next thing I remember my mom is pouring water on my hand and to this day, 15 years later, I still have 10 visible burn scars on my index finger and thumb.

they are always a good reminder for me to be careful :)
