no beacuse my body is grounded i could feel little and see litle flashes arcing to my finger
any way ill put a picture up you can kind of tell where they are
ok how could it kill me i was ony touching it with on hand plus the mot is on a wooden block and i didnt shock my self i just got close to getting shocked
I've uploaded this picture to help you understand the shocks. When you touch either output if your MOT secondary, current flows through the capacitances marked with exclamation marks '!!!'. If these 'capacitors' (air!) were to flashover (not uncommon!), you're in for a surprise. The fact you're standing on one of them doesn't help.

Members are "going off" because you made a potentially fatal mistake, and then, after "feeling tingles" and realizing it, you chose to make the same potentially fatal mistake again, this time taking a photograph.
Anywhere you've read about MOTs you will see disclaimers along the lines of "do not under any circumstances come into contact with the secondary or the primary of a MOT". It's your responsibility alone to know and understand what you're working with, before you plug it in! If you don't fully know and understand what you're working with, treat it as lethal -- or even better, don't plug it in.
Nobody wants your stupidity to translate into to 4HV's liability, nor for it to be inferred or implied that you did this at another member's instruction. See where we're coming from?

At least you realize how dangerous even going *near* the HV output of a MOT is now. I didn't say anything cause I thought it might be some sort of joke involving a flyback and elaborate photography for a while, but I'm happy that this thread did not lead to a Darwin Award.

I can only rember one event in which i recieved an electrical shock in all these years working with high voltage and high power systems, including high power 3-phase installations both at home and at work: I was using a commercial 2kV/100µA supply, and touched its output connector after it had been sitting unpowered for about one hour. While it was not strong, it clearly was a lesson for me.Ever since then, im following proper safety preocedures and never recieved any shock from any potentially dangerous source. I did get a little zap from a 12V relay coil (while holding wires to it for verifying its function) a few times though, but these never could have caused any danger because of the very small energy involved. Oh, and as a child, i disassembled a cigarette lighter and sure enough, pushed the sparker together with my hand, recieving a rather unpleasant shock.

I was showing my 4 year old daughter how to test to see if an electric fence is on. Take a bit of green grass and touch the wire with it. Not knowing that it is a pulse system that pulses once a second, I was tapping the wire with the grass. "But it's not on.", I said, grabbing the wire...
