OMG!
Not the dreaded hydroxic acid!
Not Hydrogen hydroxide!
I heard some town in california was actually about to ban DHMO. cheesey

I know someone who broke their wrist after stepping on solid Dihydrogen Monoxide!

Sodium chloride is another chemical that the public needs to know about, it's used as food flavoring however a dose of just a few ounces can be fatal! It contains the explosive alkali metal sodium and the dangerous halogen chlorine. cheesey

Ha, on an essay during the PSSA's (standardized testing for Pennsylvania) I discussed dihydrogen monoxide as it pertains to the ignorance of the media and general public. That was an impressive essay - I called all of society "ignorant peasants" but that shouldn't affect the grading right wink ?

sorry hazmatt, i didn't realize that. My science teacher brought it up on April fools day. of course I had science the last period of the day, so word of it had spread through the whole grade. my parents believed it, and I haven't told them the more common name of this oh-so-dangerous chemical yet.

Oh yeah, I was kind of mad, since I was reading about the kid with the disposable camera stun gun, and felt like sharing the ignorance of society with others...

sorry, and you could a mod could come by and lock it if they felt like it since some people, not to mention any names...(scroll up) posted the common name...

oh and Billybobjoe, I wish i had gotten that question on my SAT's. instead I just got a random crappy one about teamwork...

I like being malicious....

DHMO lets break it down for the visitors and guests,
Dihydrogen Monoxide ~ Di-meaning 2, Hydrogen A chemical on the table of elements #1, Mon or mono means 1 and Oxide is the formal word for oxygen so if we look at the menaings and the elements, we get

H2O....

If you are clueless please use this link to search for what it is.... Link2 .....

How do we define "kills" in this case?

For example the number deaths caused by H2O is insignificnant compared to the number of deaths caused by C2H6O which in some places is the most common cause of death. There are also other chemicals that each kills more people than H2O.
