 		I've successfully used parallel coupled NS-transformers for my Tesla coil. NST's have current-limiting so they can handle short circuit quite well. The main problem is that they will get warm, which limits efficiency even further. So spacing is important (at least 15cm). Another problem is serial-coupling of NST's because of insulation breakdown.
