Its not just the number of windings, its about inductance :)

TC is not transformer

Thats the kind of thing I want to make. It doesn't look to hard. It looks like it's running off of an arc welder transformer or something.

Good old Bigggie :)

It is powered by two pole mount transformers (total power around 55kVA)

EDIT: Link2 This video shows how its done

No one knows what a 14MV TC would do spark wise.
Consider ths:
1) I don't know if anyone has verified even a 1MV TC - including Model 13 or Electrum.
2) the biggest Marx generator of 5-9MV gave a 300ft spark.
3) Sparks of that voltage start to get longer than expected.
4) Natural lightning is 10 - 120MV. It can jump 10 miles though (far longer than predicted from static predictions) and is thought to be due to relativistic electrons from cosmic rays.
5) This is one of the reasons that Greg Leyh gives for wanting to making a monster twin TC.

1 mega volt=1MV=1,000,000 volts eh? I've got a SGTR right now that spits out about .95 MV, but i don't really need a monster power supply do I? couldn't I just make a slow firing coil with a beast of capacitor bank? (This seems to be the stumbling block right now)

If your biggest tesla coil is putting out 14 inch sparks, you may want to attempt a coil in between these two sizes. 14MV is a pretty tough challenge, even for the most experienced coilers. Power draw would be huge, most likely more than your home is wired to give, and the coil would have to be far from... well, everything, so an extension cord of 000 wire may be needed angry There are several resources out there for large tesla coils, but i would still suggest building something of a medium, or even medium large size to get the feel for the power used by these things!
