probally not the most pracitical idea. if you use 100v diode rectifiers(you didn't specify what voltage rating you got, datasheet says 50-1000v), you need 25 for each leg of the rectifier( since you can use 2 diodes per bridge rectifier). so 100 bridge rectifiers. that's not gonna be cheap. you could series 10 1n4007s and make a bridge out of 40 of them. much more compact, and 50 1n4007s can probably be had on ebay for less than $5 usd, including shipping.
make your own decisions, rembering that each bridge weighs at least 16g, so 100 would weigh 1.6Kg.
and you don't need 70a(2x2 within the bridge rectifiers) diodes to pass 100ma.

the db3506 is good for 600v per the datasheet, so you would need about 12 of them in series to stand the 5kv ac--keeping in mind that the peak-peak voltage of an AC supply is sqrt2 times the rms voltage.
Assuming that you can manage with only halfwave rectification, and you can use 2 diodes out of each rectifier, you would only need 6 bridges--quite a manageable rectifier.
But it sounds like he already found some better diodes so at this point it is just for future reference...
