No... one can multiply the voltage by several times if enough caps and diodes are used. 4400 VAC - can easily be multiplied via diode/cap to 12-15 kV (DC). I've done it several times. The performance can be rather nice at 3 kW !!

Well the first and second diagrams are identical and the last 2 diagrams are identical electricaly. So that leaves you with 3 designs. Half wave multiplier for single phase, Half wave for "2 phase" + gnd and full wave for "2 phase" + gnd.

Use this: just watch the whole video. I am making a dc tesla coil based on this. As you can see even a small secondary can put out more than it's own size in arcs. Just make sure if you use it for dc charging(which you must with this setup if you use a small capacitor)to use a rotary spark gap. Otherwise you will get a powerful arc through the spark gap that will turn steel red hot in mabey a minute.

Well, a great set up is using 6" PVC secondary form and using 22 -27 AWG magnet wire. I used 27 AWG with a 3/8" copper tubing primary and the results were insane at 3 kVA. I was able to get 80" without proper tuning!! My primary capacitor was 50 nF
