When I do public shows, one of my more popular and interactive segments is when I offer people free electric shocks. "Yes, Sir and Madam, despite rampant inflation some things in life are still free." I use my Candy Box HV unit and demonstrate the 1 inch sparks to my arm. Some people shrink back, others volunteer. What I find interesting is that some people come back more than once. It's a bit like overcoming your fear is a reward in itself. Maybe bungee jumping has a similar psychology.

lol, i just plain hate being shocked. Its happened to often I'm sue there would be a few risk-takers that would do it. Though the high frequency affects alot in what you can feel, 50hz hurts!

absolutely dangerous!if you get jit hard and dont die you could become mentally retarded.i have been shocked to before.i will not tell you with what cause you wont belive i am sitting here now and i may get kicked off of the forum but lets just say most people would likely die.im sure i should have.i was numb and could not move correctly for awhile.i shot back so hard i would have probably broken something if i had hit something hard.so don't underestimat a few 100's of watts of electricity.you get shocked across both arms you will likely die.

Many times when I was a noob I made something safe (current-limiting or whatever) and then had an accident with it some other way. I remember the time I burnt myself on a current-limited arc. Also, the loss of control from a minor shock is a common cause of more major shocks (e.g. jerking back and hitting something else).

That is one of the more common causes of electrician deaths. The shock only causes you to loose control but the fall off the ladder or onto machinery is what does you in. I agree with the other posts, it doesn't matter if it can kill you or not don't touch it either way.
