I might give that ZVS concept a chance now that I've got my early B-day gift...CORES! YAY!

MMM...and they're big-uns too :) Now I have a total of 5 sets. Maybe with the right gap, I can win the contest :P, oh wait, forgot....no prize....oh well, I guess then the prize will have to be a fat flame which is good enough for me!

What happened to this thread???

Here's my handwound flyback outputting nearly 30kV with 1000 turns on secondary.
It looks horrible, I know, the tape is just holding the core together...

Yep thread fell asleep, for handwound its maybe best to use PVC insulated vire instead of varnished, interturn voltages can be much higher and entire secondary far more resistant.
Only problem is finding large enough quantity of such wire...

As kolas owned us in this particular contest nobody wants to compete.. cheesey
Joking, just I have only one huge flyback driven with feddback$transistor (here 2SB863, they were silly cheap but good)

Arc can be stretched about 2,5cm, but current is very huge so it melts steel wool and ignites it,
it bursts few seconds after in sparkles...

Interesting but spark is not so long and its tricky to get a good picture, needs to be improved...

I would like to stick to feedback technique, just maybe add one more transistor in darlington to limit feedback current and resistor overheating, or maybe two transistors in antiparalell...

I've used enameled wire and plastic insulation between every layer.

Here's an arc from my zvs driver. It ignites only at about 5mm, but can be stretched vertically up to 8cm (over 3") with just about 200watts in.

Im using flyback that had a CW cascade so it doesnt generate very high voltages, but puts out lots of current (still ignites at about 8-9mm)

Your one obivously outputs huge current but little voltage, try not to get shocked with this dead cheesey

i did in fact use a resonat (inthe ball park) cap in series

frequecy is extreamly important!
that's the main set back in the Zvs circuit.
i was running this flyback around 150-200khz!
so im actually using flyback
AND resonat mode to generate such voltages

woah hold on a sec, who said anything about not wanting to compete! Did you even see the cores up ^^ those are good for 1500W continuous!

When I'm done with my weak 720W TC and its spitting out its puny 4 foot arcs, then I will give this a shot.

(I can't right now because I'm in the process of optimizing my TC)

hehe bring it on man, put a much wattage in as you need

ill be winding myself a submersable ac flyback
i dont care if you guys are competeing.
i wanna see you results of whatever you accomplish
think of this as a post you flybacks thread

i dont know if this qualifies as a flyback, but it puts out some killer arcs at 43v input. its from an air cleaner.
i have no idea what input voltage it really is.

Lool you want to eat cooked squirrel meat amazed

Core seems to be just ferrite rod, but puts nice arc for its size.
As air ioniser tha should put out DC..?
