1. Do you know what equipment you need? Likely not.

2. Why get what I have? I explained this already, the used stuff is cheaper. I thought you guys might appreciate being told that if you were looking for an RF Volt meter it could be had for under $4000, but I guess that part didn't get read.
I got the meters and the calibrator for about $700, a substancial savings for YOU.

3. Since most do not want to pay $700, I spent 6 months of MY time (My job pays me $32/hour) developing a probe for you so you wouldnt have to shell out even $90 for the commercial DMM RF probe, but building a $90 probe for $11 again was totally lost on most of you guys.

3. Transmission line as an impedance divider, its very simple. I'll write a digest for you so you don't have to read my whole thread.

source ------\/\/\/R1\/\/\-----------node----------/\/ \X1/\/\/-------- top of coil

source voltage = 3V
R1 = 10K

1. Tune frequency of source until node voltage is zero, this is resonance

2. Exhcange R1 for variable resistor, 1K pot. Adjust R1 while source frequency is the same. Adjust R1 until node voltage is 1.5V. 1.5V represents an equal divider, a resistance divider, its in the wiki and all basic electronics books.

3. coil Z = R + jX, At resonance R1 = R = jX, This is a Reactance balance. Z can now be found using the Pythagorean theorem, the resultant vector.

4. If you have the meters you can take a measurement of the top lead and verify that it is infact at 0V, which I did.

5. Nulling the coil this way I achieved a precisce measurement of Cself to +- 0.02pF

6. R represents the sum resistance effects at RF, including Rdc, it is used to determine the working Q.

7. VSWR is coming, I have to verify some things first.

8. full writeups take time. I expect you guys to take it from here for now. I've provided enough information. If you're not satisfied thats fine, you guys are more then smart enough to come up with your own derivations and methods.

Well there you go again, Hazmatt. Stop acting like I owe you something for your hobby.
Do I care how much you get paid? No! Is it of any relevance to the thread, No!
So do I think that you are big noting yourself again, Yes!
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that your voltage divider is not valid, just not to this thread.
Why blame everyone else just because we had no interest in your thread.

Thermite,
Here is a discussion on the pupman list concerning the mathematical modelling of the Tesla coil
and the Tesla Magnifier.

This thread seems to have reached the end of useful discussion so I am closing it.
