Your NST should be in parallel with the safety gap.

Here look at this.
Link2
See the Terry filter has a safety gap as part of the circuit.

NST Hot 1 to one side of the gap and gap ground
NST hot2 to the other side of the gap and gap ground.
NST Ground and RF ground on the same bus.

i'm gonna make a primary coil and gap now and take some pics of my new stuff :)

hi guys, i fixed my new primary gap and made a vid. could you check it out and give some feedback about how it's running?
i had kind of a hard time getting it to spark all three electrodes and not just one... any advice?

Put the gaps in series rather than parallel.

On my mini coil, my spark gap is inside a short segment of gray pvc pipe and on either side are hoses of the same size running off to the sides. On one of the hose ends, I have a high power leaf blower and the results are a HUGE improvement from the weak shop vac exhaust. The hoses allow me to have the blower far enough away from the coil so it doesn't drown out the sound of the sparks, and the powerful blower lets me get away with using a single gap. The gap stays cold because of the massive amount of air being moved across the electrodes.

When I suggested the bolts in wood, I actually meant something as simple as this.
