A little advice, don't bother counting the turns you have wound, just keep winding until it reach the length you need then maybe add a couple of turns.

This way you can be more focus on winding.

Happy coiling,

Bluemotion

yeh, i'd go insane if I counted every turn. So a pre-measured lenght I suppose would be ideal. One more quick question for those such as goldsphere from Aus, where is a good place to get the enameled copper for the secondary from?

There's a place over in Dandenong that I get it from, Electrowind Sales and bearings. 9706 4665
I built a winder with a counter on it so I would know how many turns I had, but it's definately not needed.
I like to work it out so it's about 1200 though. My 3.5" coil has 1200 with a space winding at the top.
It has a form factor of 1:6, but my 6" will have only 1:4 and therefore have about the same number of turns.

Goldsphere, you should've drilled an 1/8th inch hole in the secondary former and fed the wire through it. This makes for a really nice secondary.

This is what I use to do when I sold acrylic secondaries on ebay.

It also makes a burnt secondary... If you pull the wire through a hole like that, it promotes corona and arcing and can destroy the resonator.
