The only victim here is Tatiana. What a damn shame.

I don't know that death is an appropriate punishment for taunting a tiger at the zoo. However, the more details that come out, the harder it is to feel sorry for the "victims." The transcript of the 911 call is pretty interesting; among other things, the victim hangs up on the dispatcher who is trying to explain that paramedics can't enter the zoo while the tiger is loose. His reply when she points out that the paramedics won't be able to help if they get hurt? "Send more paramedics then!"

Too bad about the tiger. It was just doing what giant predatory carnivores do.

Yea and what they don't tell you is that their friends were using sling shots to try to get the tiger off of the victim that was killed. What were they doing with sling shots at a zoo in the fist place, I wonder!

The real shame is some A$$%#$* has now eliminated one of the breeding tigers from a limited gene pool.

What a great way to spend Christmas, high, drunk and taunting animals. My sympathy is with the tiger.

This reminds me of Chinese crocodile boy: (Link2

"The tragedy occurred at about 6 p.m. on Friday, when a pupil surnamed Liu and three other children from Xiantian Primary School climbed over the fence of a crocodile pool which had been temporarily closed.

The children shot the animals with catapults and beat them with wooden sticks. One of the irritated alligators bit Liu's clothes and dragged him into water, where he was eaten by a swarm of alligators."

Shameful is right; justice would have been served properly if the tiger remained alive... tongue

"Toxicology results for Dhaliwal showed that his blood alcohol level was 0.16 -- twice the legal limit for driving, according to the affidavit. His 24-year-old brother Kulbir Dhaliwal and Sousa also had alcohol in their blood but within the legal limit, Matthews wrote.

All three also had marijuana in their systems, Matthews said. Kulbir Dhaliwal told police that the three had smoked pot and each had "a couple shots of vodka" before leaving San Jose for the zoo on Christmas Day the affidavit said.

Police found a small amount of marijuana in Kulbir Dhaliwal's 2002 BMW, which the victims rode to the zoo, as well as a partially filled bottle of vodka, according to court documents."

Individuals who put drugs in their bodies are still responsible for their actions, but if you're drunk and on marijuana, I'd say you can comfortably void any semblance of credibility you might have once had. Bad case of 'You've made your bed, now lie in it.'

I'd put the boy or boys in the tiger habitat for a few years.

Yeah, being mauled to death isn't civilised justice for teasing a tiger, but can you expect much better?

Well, exactly.

What happen was that nature intervened and let human and tiger sort out differences on their own terms. And like "survival of the fittest", tiger won.

Maybe they should have have better defenses to keep people from getting too close to the tiger, like maybe a taller fence, a guard or attendant, or hell even an inner electrified fence past the normal one.

Or, better yet, they could just put some kind of huge, fierce animal IN the cage to discourage people from getting too close. Oh wait...
