Hi guys smile

I have just finished the built of my new coil. It is full-bridge of irfp460s. It is driven by Steve Wards Mini SSTC, but i changed the 74hc14 with 74LS14 ( I was surprised that it worked but it do, the only change was to reduce to 100k to 5k !!! ). With 20 primary turns and 240v half wave rectified it produced about 35sm of streamers (14inch) and the bridge is just barely heating up. The power consumption is about 700W. In the moment the coil doesn't have interuptor by i plan of putting one. One interesting thing - why when i put my toroid higher the streamers become longer wink
So here some pics and a video Link2 . What do you think guys smile

Very nice Huben,
I’m impressed by everyone being able to use IRFP460 and make such a nice sparks. I destroyed my IRFP460 half bridge immediately I turned it on. I rather use the BUP314 IGBT transistors; they are much more stupidity-resistant. Hopefully you’ll be able to make all the other TC fun – like pulling plasma and placing some crazy things on the top-load without a big-bang...
BTW: how big is your silicon cemetery before you get those pictures?

Cheers Mates

this is the best part - I haven't destroyed a single FET (for now) smile. Today i will be making an interuptor and will see what happens .

Hi guys smile

I finaly completed this coil. The whole coil is 80sm tall from top to bottom. The streamers are about 50sm (20inch) and it is capable of hitting a grounded target 60sm away from the breakout point. So here some pics. What do you think smile.

Cheers Huben

Hi Goldsphere smile
For the consumption - it depends on how the interuptor is set. It is hiting the 60sm target on about 500W, if i put more power, the arcs become more bright and hot. I have been pushing it up to 2kW for about 20min non-stop and the fets got just warm. (I use fans for the heatsinks)
Cheers Huben.

Very, very, very nice!
Can you give us some details on your secondary?
Diameter, # of turns, wire size?
Once again, well done.
