Jacob's Ladder: Does electrode diameter make any difference?

I used 1/2 inch copper for my mot stack JL, it was a little hard to work with but once it was set up it worked perfectly and consistantly. I woudl say as lonf as you don't go too small you are ok. I didnt have any special bending at the top of the ladder and it still worked fine.

I put 2 screws though each pipe and used those to set the seperation of the pipe. I also use a 10M resistor at the bottom of the pipes to initiate the arc.
