Hi everyone, this is my first post. I am working on my first SSTC after some success with my SGTC. I am trying to copy Steve's Mini SSTC. The problem is that I only have UCC37322(I got 10pcs from Father's company).

My question is : Is it OK to replace UCC37321 with UCC37322 and invert the signal before going into IC?(So this makes a inverting driving signal compared to the other UCC37322.)

This is my finished secondary.(Sorry for picture's quality)

Form diameter: 11.5mm
Wire Diameter: 0.234mm
Number of turns: 1050turns
Coated with 4 layers of vinyl adhesive

Welcome to the forum. You could use the UCC37322 without any inverter chip and just reverse the primary phasing.

He's using the Mini SSTC design, not the Micro SSTC design. It's a halfbridge based design, and it uses one inverting and one noninverting gate driver.

Yes, you can just invert the signal before it goes into one of the gate drivers. Just use one of the spare 74HC14 gates for this.

Mini SSTC is 2 drivers, as far as I know, but inverting the input should do OK.

I don't know what mains voltage you have, but if it's 230V and 500V mosfets make sure to increase number of primary turns to fair level, 15...20 for start.

Are you really a first asian guy who joined here? At least in a while...
Welcome to the forum sir! smile

Thanks you guys' reply.

@Anders M.
Thanks, I nearly forgot there is already a 74hc14.
No another inverter chip needed.

@Marko
Well, we both use 110v and 220v.
220v often for microwave oven and air conditioner
110v for most devices.

Not sure if I'm the first Asian guy. But I am quite sure I am the first one in my country.
Actually, I never seen any TC built by people in my counter. Either on the net or in real world. cheesey

Well, I got a ferrite core from a dead SMPS with mounting base. It looks just pretty and excellent. I think I will use it to make my GDT.

My finished halfbridge(IRFP460 not soldiered yet) and power block.(The PCB is modified from a fullbridge posted by EDY19 long time ago) The two black stuffs on the bridge are MUR860s.

Also I got a stainless steel sphere for free from a scrap yard. 2 inches in radius. The capacitance is 4.27 micro Farad.(Measured by my LCR meter)

That is a bad core for GDT (yellow-white powdered iron, material #26, low permeability)....

You need to get a real ferrite core, grey, #77, F or similar.
Surely you can keep the base if another toroid fits... wink

Apart from that, it looks good.

I'm only not sure why Steve didn't put in reverse-blocking schottky diodes, as this way the MUR's may not conduct at all while body diodes will hog. I don't know why didn't he bring attention to that.

It seems not easy to get ferrite core in my country. However I'll keep finding.
I searched for the material list, looks like #26 is used in EMI filter.
I know I need one with higher initial permeability. cheesey

I'm not sure either. But I've seen a topic about the issue on pupman.

In mine too cheesey You can find some cores of various sizes in things like TV's, monitors, DVD players, mostly wrapped around cables as filters.

Good luck with your coil btw,
going to sleep now,

You mean the one on the output of the flyback transformer? I just have A LOT amazed
But they look really long.
