CDE 942 with poly covering removed after failure. 10M .5W resistor on side of cap. I experienced no further failures after moving the resistors. I was running at a higher wattage than you with fewer caps so you may not have the same problem. Do as you wish.

CONTROLER, SPARK GAP
Just another update I have just started my primary seems like its gonna be harder then I thought. I need to build the supports to give me something to reform the heating pipe around. (it got alittle deformed coiling into the rough form I need it) Anyway here is my controler and my RFI filter. the filter just came today so I need to put that into the controler. In the picture there is no fuse in the fuse holder. (my parents took it away so I couldn't do any HV expiriments when they weren't there. ) I am using a 20 amp fuse is that the right size? I also have a picture of my redone spark gap I used gorrila glue to glue the pipe onto the board. so far it seems to be pretty strong I still need to test the SG.
P.S. My birthday is friday so I have no problem with anyone sending me a new transformer. I would love a 15000 V 60ma NST but I will except anything that works

If you've got some RG-8 or similar coax around, you might go with that for your primary instead of the tubing (connect to the shield). It will be WAYYY easier to work with. I think a lot of people just assume that they'll benefit in some way from using the tubing. I wouldn't waste my time with it until I got up into the couple-kW range. Even then, well-known coilers like D.C. Cox have been advocating use of welding cable and x-ray cable and the like for primaries on bigger coils, which are also great and easy to work with. But the copper tubing sure looks neat!
