2kW is a lot, but you may be ok. Just be ready to reduce the power or limit run times if you have to. Racing sparks on PVC-insulated wire seem like they'd be a real bugger to clean up after, so watch carefully.

I've run 1.7 kW into my 3" X 30" secondary and achieved 5.3' strikes. I was using 27AWG wire on the secondary and 32nF tank , 12kV 130mA input. When I ran with 12kV 180mA I got past 6' mark... Big toroid however... very very few streamers

Designed for performance evaluation, this coil is 23 AWG and one of the bottom turns is burned through. 750W system 22nF tank. So should you expect to burn through wire at high power? Absolutely. Should you be careful about overcoupling your coil? Absolutely. Just take care to find the optimal position of the coil without burning up your bottom turns and you'll be fine at high power.
