Fishing is great up north. In some areas it is not uncommon to find large sturgeon, salmon, bass, or the standard stocked trout.
There is Fishing in Edmonton? Is it northern Pike or something?
At this time of year though most of the better areas are under a few meters of snow and over a meter of solid ice.
tips for those with failing power grids: 1. fuel, Honda generator, and a good bike-lock on it while it's covered outside. 2. Cell phones will sometimes ironically be more reliable 3. Wood burning fireplace or stove for emergencies. 4. Coffee and instant hot-chocolate packs 5. gas chainsaw and an ax for fallen trees 6. a set of ice cleats for your boots 7. manual winch and chains 8. Vodka? try the Magic instant freezing beer trick... 9. Gore-Tex does not work as well or last as long as preshrunk wool. 10. anything made out of most common plastics become brittle (iPhone ear-buds wires will crack.) 11. All season tires do not include northern winters 12. 4WD with locking hubs does not guarantee people know how to drive.
