Damn those look awesome!! I want some!! I could definitely use both sizes as well. You should mass produce these, it's your calling. I would be willing to buy a few dozen.

Thanks all.

Marko,

Yes with my ”magic” spinning stick and a lathe:-)

Goldsphere,

It`s made out of 1mm copper plate.

Shan,

The first 3 forms I made are steel mandrels, but it was a pain in the ass to make… So now I use hardwood (oak) for the mandrels.
I use a little cutting oil as lubricant, it’s a little messy but it works great. And it’s easy to remove the oil when I’m done with the spinning part.

I flame solder the two parts together, because I think it looks a lot better…

Derek L,

Are you blind, or …

Here are some pictures and a new video of the 195*50mm toroid.

Maybe I will sell a few toroids next year. But I don’t want to make a whole lot of toroids, if I can’t sell any of them...

Cheers, Daniel

Well I would be interested in about 30 or so of the bigger ones.

Daniel -

A few more questions on your beautiful copper toroids -

1. Do you start with fully-annealed 1mm copper sheet, or is it just in the as-rolled condition?
2. Do you need to stop and anneal the shell part-way through the spinning operation?
3. When soldering the two shells together, do you add any kind of alignment features to one of the shells, or use some sort of holding/alignment fixture, or just set one shell on top of the other and use a steady hand?
4. When you say "solder", do you mean conventional tin/lead solder, high-temperature silver solder, tin-based lead-free solder as used for copper water pipes, or something else?
5. Is the tip of your form tool just a polished full-radius?

I'd definately be buying some if they don't cost too much... How much would you charge for the larger ones?

Derek L,

Surry about my misunderstanding…

Shan,

I think a little googling would answer most of your questions…

Zb,

The price for one of the bigger toroids is 140$, this price is with shipping in Europe. You have to pre-order the toroids, so I can make an overview of how many I have to make.

And the price for one of the small ones is 30$, and you can get two for 50$ without shipping. I don’t intend to run more than one production of these.

The toroids are spin polished and soldered together.

If people are interested in the toroids, I think this thread should be moved to Sale and Trade.

Email me if you have any questions.

Cheers, Daniel

Dang, that is a bit out of my price range sad I can't justify spending 140 bucks on a toroid (and I do realize it's not a bad price, at all). Putting that toroid on would probably double the value of the coil. mistrust

Oh well, thanks anyway.

Really? cheesey I think it would raise the value of my coil a few orders of magnitude..

Nevertheless these toroids do look really professional.
