What do you mean "Old Money"? Where does that come from?

I don't know of a Republican having 500 Million Dollars to play with.

If liberals were really in favor of protecting laborers, why do they go after all of the businesses that employ the workers? If you tax the business owner until he can't pay his workers all you have gained is unemployed owners and workers, which reduces GDP and creates a welfare state. Then because there isn't a business anymore you don't get taxes to run the gov't, but that requires rational thought and knowledge of how business works and liberals don't think from A to Z, just A to B.

I am concerned too because people are stupid, they desire to be lied to, and are greedy. A candidate that is truthful about everything cannot get elected because of the necessity of lies and decit. But there will come a day when it will no longer be tolerated, I just hope it comes soon because I'm sick of the lies, greed, decit, foolishness, 'voter intent' , dead people voting, non-citiczen voters, and all that other corrupt bullshit.

The simple reason for taxing the business owners is that they have more money than the employees.

BC both employers and employees get taxed. You would find that out real quick if you worked here. You have State and Federal taxes. Then if there are any retirement packages that gets taken out of your pay as well. You could expect to see 35-40% taken out of your check.

My dad as an owner paid for his employees (2) and the taxes were the equavilent of 8 employees, due to insurance and other legalities.

Is the Australian Labour party actually left wing or is it like "New Labour" here in the UK ie not very soft Tory?

It's one left-of-centre party with various groups under the surface. There are New Labour style members and lefter, traditional unionist labor members. There are often differences of opinion but it's rare for them to get public.

(Yes, note spelling of UK "Labour" and the "Australian Labor Party", even though in Australia labour is otherwise spelt with a u.)

Edit: US readers: don't be confused by the term "Liberal Party". This is the right-of-centre conservative party here and has nothing to do with the "small l" liberals of the US.
