Now I can make 30cm flame-like arcs from 4-flyback

You mean you pull 30cm plasma... That's something else than 30cm arcing (no fly-back can stand such voltage). I achieved 15cm arcing from one big-screen TV flyback but I killed it soon. The coumputer monitors fly-backs can stand like 10cm arcing but that's the top limit. (BTW: the distances are related to simple 1mm wires as HV electrodes)

Of course when I say 30cm arc I mean a 30cm arc, this does not mean that it strikes at this distance, it is just drawn.

Sorry for OT

I had the same experience with MOT arcs. I had so much fun with the first ones that only could be drawn out to 1cm and could melt 22awg copper. It didn't matter that I was using 500W worth of light bulbs as a ballast. But when I started drawing 1 foot arcs it wasn't as fun for some reason.

My first flyback driver was a ZVS flyback driver and I was getting 2-3cm arcs with 12V in. I don't remember the exact current it was drawing but it was pretty low (1-2A).

I like the ZVS because is so nice to your semiconductors. I can put 400W+ through mine with a medium size heatsink and the FETs are only warm. I would highly recommend the driver, except the variant with the extra 3+3 primary with the 100R resistors in series...its does nothing to improve performance.

But you need a good PSU to really push it. I use an MOT rewound for 60V, with a variac attached. But beware, if your flyback primary is too thin it WILL melt.
