Correct -- you guys spotted a brief primary flashover -- I put that rolled up plastic insulator in there to suppress it (almost).

The primary should be mounted further away in the first place, it's my fault for wrapping it directly around the secondary; it was the only short term way I could guarantee it would have a consistent position. (It's frustrating to retune your coil every time you bump the position of the primary/secondary.)

Thick enameled wire, holes in the box, soldering directly to the PCB... => beautiful, dense ''floating'' primary? =D

I need to bite the bullet and make a former, and epoxy it to the box or something... or go with ye olde lasercut discs inserted into the bottom and threaded through the middle.

I should even consider making the primary multitappable, considering the potential crankiness of the class-E driver.

Matt, isn't your secondary screwed down to the box... so you use the threaded plexy disk for that?

When I used to fill my secondaries with resin I would simply embed a screw into it and leave to cure... brass screw gives nice ground connection itself, but, if you do that, you'll get in trouble if your wire happens to break within the resin.

You could also leave the ground external, and pour the resin in with the screw inserted... make sure that it's covered in some kind of grease, and resin should cure into a nice thread.

Just giving some ideas... :p
