wow :¬) It's very impressive, I'm glad I found you.

What is the frequency response like on it?

It sounds like one of these small ~5cm speakers but with "crispier" highs. If you listen closely there's nice bass response too, but it goes away as you stand further away.

Today i tried FM instead of pwm and i must say that the sound is a bit better or at least louder without distortions. The FM is realised by feeding the audio signal to the Rt pin of the pwm ic via a capacitor (4.7uF).

Video is here Link2 , but my camera has crappy microphone so you can't really hear the quality.

The idea is sound

I have repaired several of the units in the following link over the years
Link2
These were tweeters that used a class C 27 MHz RF tube modulated by the audio

They sound amazing when running properly

An american company sold what they called an improvement for a while I forget their name but they used helium in the ion arc to get better sound pressure and longer life from the quartz assembly that supported the ionisation arc. The down side was you neede a helium cylinder in yourv lounge as well.
In my opinion these tweeters when running properly were better than electrostatic units from Quad or accustat (inaccustat in my opinion)

I'm actually building your SG3525 circuit right now, with the schematic as given in the description for your "singing arc first prototype" video. Are you saying I can get better results "by feeding the audio signal to the Rt pin of the pwm ic via a capacitor (4.7uF)"?

Which pin is on the IC is Rt? I'm very interested in this.

EDIT: one more thing, will this work with a DC flyback?

Here is the freqeuncy modulated schematic (output stage not shown): Link2
I think it is best to use a half bridge output stage but single ended might work too.

Absolutely, this Link2 is with a DC flyback, FM driver and half bridge power stage.
