Thanks Michael for posting the videos of the Discovery Channel segments.
Also to Paul Sandland who arranged the links whom I have emailed. Paul is a frequent visitor but not member of 4HV working on his own coil.

"....My main purpose has been served, in that I was able to help you get to the see the clips, and you enjoyed them, and that was really my only intention… – a little bit of help back to you for all your work in getting them out to the public, so that people like my son and I (wife too- I made her watch so she has some idea why I hide in the basement!) can learn, and enjoy your work.
Thank you for the reply, Paul"

The segments are in 700kbs video so needs a reasonable broadband link otherwise it ends up as a series of still clips.

Segment 1 is 5:14 mins and shows the vortex generator, electric shocks, can crushing and sparks in the pool. The technical explanation got a bit messed up. I am NOT having 100MW jump on to my head suprised And I have two sons in the clips and no daughter (she was the cameramans work experience student).

Segment 2 is 3:45 and shows the TC on the car and the 18 inch coil. They tried to show the sparks around the car using CGI to approximate the effect of a long photographic exposure but it doesn't really capture the effect well. That was always going to be difficult. The 18 inch coil died at the end. What happened was that a big 3 phase switch I was using was also (unknown to me) a circuit breaker of ?20A. This was one of my early runs but I got 8 foot sparks (not shown on the video and I have since got 11 foot sparks from it).

Overall the production was very professional and I think they did a great job getting most of the best bits without the ..ummms.. and ..ahhs.. etc. Three hours of video condensed in to 9 mins.
I would have liked to see some of the vortex shots in the school gymnasium, but these didn't fit the sequencing.

Enjoy

I showed my wife those clips and she thinks you're as nutty as I am.

"Exactly" she says, looking over my shoulder as I type this.

cheesey

(How many holes were in that shirt after you blasted it with molten steel wool? I bet YOUR wife wasn't happy with that one - you need to make a pneumatic switch for your cap bank)

LOL. Wives just don't appreciate HV.
Mine does not normally, however, on our recent trip for more filming she had to be on the variac end while I was in the Dalek cage or doing other stuff close to the sparks. I think she enjoyed having my life in her hands. Quality time, I suppose cheesey

I stopped wearing ties and white shirts a couple of years ago after a lifetime of doing so. There were a few black spots on the shirt though. However, I have done this with bare arms and legs before with no problems. The molten metal just bounces off my skin but I take precautions to prevent sparks in my hair or down my neck.
Why would I need a pneumatic controller? I can run this from hundreds of meters away with the string. I just unwind the length I need for the shot. I could have been a fair bit closer because the shot was milder than I thought. Probably needed more aluminum.

I had contact from the Discovery Channel producer who had completed the third episode of my stuff to show on their Daily Planet segment in Canada.
This one involves taking the big TC up to a big domed building to run it and includes things like me in the Dalek cage and a few other up close things.

I didn't get to do everything I wanted to in the way of effects due to running out of time and hands to do things but they seemed happy with what they got.

Pic shows the cameraman taking a shot of me with a neon tube.

If anyone gets to see it I wouldn't mind a copy in some form or link or whatever.

This is the video link to the 3rd Tesla coil segment on Discovery Channel.

It shows quite good shots of the triple 7 effect.

There was another screening of the first video in Canada yesterday on Discovery Channel. Did anyone see it?
It sounds the same from a description but it had my website mentioned on it so it must have had something extra.

So looks like I joined the "Here's Lucy" re-run set shades

I finally got the Xmas tree video on DVD from Discovery. It was 5 mins and I think pretty well done. Lots of flashbacks to my previously covered stuff.

It's interesting about the Xmas tree. If you google for "xmas" you get 51,000,000 hits and I am now number 3. Shows what a big site with lots of links either way can mislead the search engines.

I get 46 100 000 hits for "xmas" without the quotes and 46 200 000 with the quotes. You are placed twelfth on both. It seems like my internet brwowser uses google.co.uk.

google.com.au ranks you thirteenth with 46 400 000 hits for "xmas".

google.no ranks you in sixth with 40 400 000 hits for "xmas".
