For diodes, I think that 1n4007 will do the job. And the caps were 2nf 400v (1nf will work as well) And hey, what kind of 15kv supply do you have?
Chris, my resistor ends are well insulated (with hot glue) and tested so that it won't arc over.

It is the ionizer from electronic goldmine, you can stand on a bucket that has metal foil on the top then charge that. It makes your hair stand up mildly and some other interestings things. I am getting some 1 kv rectifier diodes and some 1 kv 2nf capsso it will be hard to kill them and I could do a double driveusing 2 transformers

Well years later I've actually built the dang thing. I was looking at my ancient posts(reading what I posted in my early teens scares me.) and this project was neat enough I had to do it.

Yea, I've noticed that when working with carona, had to step outside a couple times when working on my project.
Another idea is driving a flyback and not connecting the output, generally gives an ion wind as well, I managed to punch holes clean through plastic bags, wouldn't recommend touching it though...

I had some success with piezoelectric CCFL modules driving C/W multipliers, the problem is that the CCFL tends to get charged inverse from the output voltage and blows components.
