Chris where do you just *find* all that stuff? smile Why so much HV diodes? Those diodes form other side don't look like being too fast. Single flyback should be able to give 36kV without problems, probably even more when pumped up.

What are those big caps and ferrite toroids for? With royer you need additional low-voltage power supply, so I thought you are going to build a mains-powered driver? Or you'l use batteries?

400V fast recovery? irfp250s have build in diodes, and the other diode is only to pull the gate low, I have been using uf4007 with good results.

are your zeners 1/4W, they might smoke.

As long as you aren't running at >30v into the bridge, even 1/4w zeners should be fine. You don't need big honkin diodes for the '400v fast recovery' feedback diodes, there is only a few mA of current running through them.

I would be more worried about those big HV diodes being waay to slow to keep up with the 10-100kHz operating frequiency of the flyback, as most of those diodes are vanilla flavored (ie, slow) silicon...

Also, ferrite is a poor material for the series inductor in the mazzilli driver, as it saturates very easily. You are better off wil a powered iron (ie, yellow epoxy coated) torriod.

for the inductor, i was using a small EI sheets transformer, that has about 0.5cm^2 core.

Hi Christopher

Those ferrite toroids are really huge, so they might work after all for what you need of them.
Still, cheap material #26 toroid from dead PC power supply has like 3x saturation flux density and is really better for inductor application.

Save those nice ferrites for something else or give to someone who needs them cheesey

If you are only going to run it up to 24V you can use a 7815 regulator to power your gates.

Instead of zeners simply use rail-to rail 1N5819 clamps.
