I just tried sanding the pipe with 100 grit sand paper and all I did was scratch it. Hopefully coating it will make it smooth again.

Back to the tape, so do I leave it on when I'm all done and coat over it? Secondary isn't connected to toroid or primary correct?

The tape is there in small amounts just to hold the wire on while you wind it.
Once the secondary has been vanished (I use clear vanish in a spray can), then the
vanish will hold the wire on, provided you have done enough coats.
The ends of the wire are connected to two bolts coming out of your end caps.

How do I power my NST? It didn't come with any wires. There are 2 points that are labeled line and neutral and 1 other point at either end of the transformer. There's no spot where I would be able to plug in an extension core.

The ones labeld line and neutral go to your line and neutral of your house through an extension cord. You get your extension cord and attach the black wire to LINE, and the white wire to neutral. The green wire is ground and it connects to the case of the NST.

The brown wire goes to Line.
The blue goes to Neutral.
If you are in Australia.

man, not only is your money more colorful, but so is your household wiring.

It's just not fair I tell ya.

Is ground still green, or is it chartreuse with pink stripe?

<joke>Do you have to wind your coils backwards in Australia? </joke>

Nothing so fancy, it's just plain midori with an ebony stripe.

Would these work

I'm still a bit lost on what type of wiring I need to hold everything together.

If I cut the cable that connects to the computer would I see the 3 different colors inside?

yes, you would see 3 coloured wires provided it was grounded (most likely). but don't cut your computer wire with it plugged in cheesey

I connected the following

NST -> MMC
MMC -> Spark Gap
Spark Gap -> Primary coil
Primary coil - > NST

I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong. Nothing comes off my torroid and the power goes out in the wall socket when I turn it off. Sparks come off my capacitors. What did I forget to connect? Do I have to ground the secondary? and How do I short out my capacitors and do I have to if I have bleeder resistors?

Here's a picture. It's blurry because I took a screenshot of a video I recorded.
