Art should never be censored.
Some graffiti is Art. Even if it's unsolicited art.

This kid was just a stupid tagger. They're a much larger and more prevalent problem. Immature vandalism is a real problem and the actors need to be held to account. it's a civil matter. No one should die for Graffiti

However, being stupid enough to enter a 115KV substation - well... What can you say? Darwin for teh w1n.

Art should never be censored? It should and will be if it destroys my property! That's all I have to say about that.

I'm sorry the kid died, I woundn't give anyone the death sentence for graffiti, but I won't cry too much either. He knew he wasn't supposed to be doing it, he had to try really hard to do something he shouldn't do. It's a shame he couldn't have lived through it, so he could change his ways and have another chance to make a positive effect on society. I'm not sure we have the place to say if he deserved it or not.

Gotta love his friends, BTW, leaving him there like that. Top-of-the-line friends there; like to think I don't have any of those. Not that I'll be decorating any substations any time soon.

Yeah, some people are lucky, such as the tagger in my neighbourhood. You find his "Nick" on everything, walls, doors and... yeah, on some pole transformers hanging 20ft above the ground. this stupid guy must have been climbed up to the Transformer (10kV Pole) and sprayed his Nick on the Side you can see when you drive along with your car. Surely, the transformer was on power.
Yeah, there are stupid people out there.

O.K., on the news tonight a crane was removing a man from a pig that cut a live 12kv line to steal the copper. He had burns to 3/4 of his body! I am having a hard time understanding the “no fear of humming transformers with large insulators…..”?

People… HV kills……………….please keep away, please! cry

how about we just sit back, say nothing for a few years... no warning signs, no fences.... just a 3" sparkgap on every substation spewing out nasty flaming arc death for all to see and hear,.

We sit back, let nature take its course....

Reading the blog comments about that copper theft is sad. So many people jumping to one of

a) He is a drug addict looking to pay for his next fix
b) He is an illegal immigrant and should be deported
c) He is homeless and needs sympathy
d) He has no job and does not deserve sympathy

Critical thinking is so yesterday...

Do we know why he was up there? I heard he was was trying to steal copper to resell.... does it matter why?

It could have been because he needed the copper for ballast in his homemade submarine for all I care.

In this case what seems to matter to me is the act, not the reason.

But ya know...aren't most transmission lines Al jacketed steel cable anyways?
