What if you've already reached your potential? You might actually be living life to the max right now, and it might still suck.
Reasons to build Tesla coils:
You like the noise and the look of the sparks
You want to be 1337
You need a huge phallic symbol to compensate for something
People pay you to build them
God forbid, you actually want to learn about electrical engineering by means of hands-on experiments
My new year's resolutions:
See how long I can manage without a car, since my car failed its MOT and had to be scrapped.
Spend less time messing around on forums and stuff, same as Avalanche, or at least learn to manage it. I find it tricky because I use the net heavily for work as well as leisure.

I'm guessing MOT has a different meaning here. I can't think of what a MOT would do in a car, except maybe kill carjackers. Incidentally I'll be doing the same since I don't want to give up half my salary for a car(and public transport is a viable option now).
If you fix your teeth will you still be British?
I'll resolve not to be an all-feared 4hv moderator. And to learn dutch(or at least numbers).

haha, I was the opposite when I first joined 4hv, and I couldn't figure out what people meant when they said they needed an MOT for their coil. I thought at first it was just some ongoing forum joke that I had missed
MOT here means Ministry of Transport (test), but I'll admit I just had to look that one up

I can't think of what a MOT would do in a car

It's the Ministry Of Transport annual test that your car has to have, to prove that it's safe to drive. Or not A lot of countries have a similar thing, they just call it different names. My car would have needed over £300 of work to pass, and it was only worth about £250...
Firkragg, when I get my next car, I want Tokyo Drift Power and a hidden potato cannons :P
Ben: No, the Queen will take my UK citizenship off me as soon as the brace comes off.
